81 Division Nigerian Army (NA) has commenced its Operations Planning Cadre Year 2023 for tactical level officers of the Division and their equivalents in the sister services and other security agencies. The event which was declared open by the Special Guest of Honour, the Corps Commander Ordinance, Maj Gen AM Alabi was held at 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Victoria Island Lagos on 17th Apr 2023.
The theme of this year cadre is “Leadership and Tactical Operational Planning Within a Joint
Environment”.
The 5-day exercise was designed to improve the operational planning skills of commanders and staff officers in both joint and single service operations planning processes. It is also aimed at boosting professionalism and exposing participants to aspects of Military Operations Other Than War, Media Operations and other related subjects.
The Special Guest of Honor, Maj Gen AM Alabi in his remarks stated that the cadre is meant to refresh participants on the various aspects of Operation Planning process in a joint and single service environment. He further urged the the participants to always make maximum and effective use of lessons learnt during the Cadre.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division NA, earlier in his remarks stated that the Cadre is essential for mid career and young officers of the Division in building their minds in tackling contemporary security challenges within 81 Division Areas of Responsibility. He further urged participants to work hand in hand in defence of the Nation.
In his words, “Let me use this opportunity to advice the participants to make maximum use of this Cadre to understand the dynamics of proper synergy, collaboration and sound coordination of operations with Sister Services”.
The GOC also thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his immense support and keen interest in 81 Division and the entire Nigerian Army.
The first lecture titled, ‘Whole of society Approach in Combating Current Security Challenges was delivered Brig Gen UG Yusuf while the second lecture, titled, ‘Social Media Management in Asymmetric Warfare’ was delivered by an Associate Professor, Department of Mass communication, University of Lagos, Dr Suraj Olunifesi Adekunle.
Other Dignitaries present during the exercise includes, The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division (NA), Maj Gen OC Ajuwa, corps commanders in 81 Division AOR amongst others.
