Boosting the Morale of Front-line Families: Commander 9 Brigade Hosts End of Year Children’s Party

The Commander 9 Brigade Brigadier General Isangubong Akpanmoutia has hosted a party for children of officers and soldiers to round off the year at the Headquarters 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Ikeja Cantonment Lagos.

The Brigade Commander while giving his opening remarks stated that the end of the year’s party is aimed at celebrating the successes of the series of events of the formation with families and well-wishers. He further stated that the children’s party was also an avenue for Officers, Soldiers, and their children to celebrate the yuletide season together in a relaxed atmosphere. He further stated that it is also a way of boosting the morale of Officers and Men on the front-line who left behind their families in the cantonment.

The Special Guest of Honor of the event the First Lady of Lagos State, Her Excellency Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Claudiana Sanwo-Olu who was ably represented by the press secretary to the Governor of Lagos state Mrs. Bukola Akosile while Delivering her goodwill message stated that she is delighted to join the Brigade Commander, senior Officers Soldiers and their families to celebrate. She further salutes the courage and vision of the Leadership of the Brigade in coming up with such a celebration aimed at ending the year on a high note for children of the troops in the Brigade who are out there fighting to ensure peace and protect the territorial integrity of our dear country.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding and Commander 81 Division Nigerian Army Major General Obinna Ajunwa stated that he is highly delighted to be in the midst of the children to celebrate with them on the occasion of Ikeja cantonment End of the year children’s party. He noted that the gathering is essential to wine off the stress after a long training and operational year in 2022 where Men of the Nigerian Army have contributed and made sacrifices to unite the nation.

The GOC commended the organizers of the event, in particular the Leadership of 9 Brigade for their thoughtfulness to put resources together to have a such beautiful display. Accordingly, he further encouraged the Children to face their studies squarely and excel in all their exams to progress to the next higher classes. While speaking he charged the youth who are eligible voters to conduct themselves well in the coming elections so that the country will have a free and fair election come 2023.



Highlights of the event include the presentation of souvenirs, dance competitions, display of individual talents, and group photographs.
