The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre On Friday, February 3, 2023, received Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim, the Force Commander (FC) Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), on coutesy visit to the institution in Accra, Ghana. The visit followed the KAIPTC’s invitation to the MNJTF. When he arrived, the Commandant of the KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo Gyane, and other Center staff members greeted him. A thorough overview of the KAIPTC’s history, roles, functions, and accomplishments was delivered to the FC and his entourage. Similar to that, the MNJTF delegation gave a presentation on the Force that covered its history, mission, and accomplishments, among other things. This was followed by an interactive session with Center employees.

This was stated in a press statement on February 6, 2023, by Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke, the Chief Military Public Information Officer in N’Djamena, Chad.

The Commandant praised the Force for its accomplishments and thanked the FC for making time to visit the KAIPTC. He urged increased coordination in the areas of capacity development and training between the Centre and the MNJTF. Over 30 officers of the MNJTF, he claimed, had benefited from courses at the KAIPTC, which he regarded as a world-class training facility. He went on to say that the Center’s high-quality training programs had contributed to the MNJTF officers’ capacity-building. He further suggested that the MNJTF be given more openings in order to strengthen their current connection with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center. The Commandant’s decorating of the FC with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center banner was the highlight of the trip. The presentation of plaques, signing of the guest book, and group photo marked the event’s conclusion. The deputy Commandant as well as other senior officials from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Center and the MNJTF attended.

The FC visited the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana earlier in the day as a courtesy. At Nigeria House Accra, His Excellency Ambassador Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas. The High Commissioner commended the MNJTF for its achievements in putting down insurgency in the Lake Chad region and recommended the continuation of the current pace to terminate the threat. In his remarks, the FC thanked the High Commissioner for welcoming him and his delegation and for hosting them. He thanked the High Commissioner for his many years of service to Nigeria and pledged to continue to properly lead the MNJTF until the mission was completed. The visitor’s book was signed, souvenirs were traded, and a group photo was taken.

The FC also went to the Nigerian High Commission’s Defence Section where he spoke with the Defence Attachee, Col.
