Visits to Kenya Electricity Generating Company help the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management Africa Study Tour 2023 team end their trip in Kenya. Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC, located in Naibasha, was the final stop on the team’s 5-day study tour of Kenya, which was headed by Colonel Kingsley Inyang.

At the Olkaria Geothermal Development Project Area, the Team was greeted by senior company management. The crew was given a presentation on the installed capacity of the power plant, which consists of 825.69 MW of hydropower, 799 MW of geothermal power, 253.5 MW of thermal power, and 25.5 MW of wind power.

Since its founding in 1998, when Kenya’s government restructured the energy sector with the aim of achieving efficient use of resources allotted for the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity, the company, which is the country’s largest energy sector, has an installed capacity of 1,904 MW.

The presentation included information on the stages of geothermal project development, feasibility, expanding drilling, and the geothermal potential of Africa. The lecture and interactive session were followed shortly by a tour of the facilities (Geothermal Development Project Area) for the team.

You may recall that the Team visited a number of Kenyan Ministries, Departments, and Agencies during its 5-day study trip, including the Kenyan Defence Forces Headquarters, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Inland Dry Container Depot, and the August 7th Memorial Park, among others.

with a deeper understanding of Kenya’s success story. When writing reports on the study tour, the students will try to include the knowledge they learned from the visit. The purpose of the visit was to inform Nigerians on how Kenya effectively used multi-sectoral and multi-level initiatives to improve national security.

Another development was the delegation being hosted to supper by the Commandant, Major-General Adeyinka, who also serves as the tour’s general director. Several dignitaries attended the event, including the Nigerian High Commissioner in Kenya, Ambassador Yusuf Yunusa, who was represented by Colonel RU Mairiga, Deputy Defence Attache Addis Ababa Wing Commander CO Omoku, and other staff members of the Nigerian High Commission in Kenya.

The event’s presentation of mementos and group photos were highlights. Please find the pictures below attached.
