In order to adapt to the fast changing operating environment, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is preparing for a thorough revamp of its Operational Environment. This statement was given during the weekly Operations Briefing at the Strategic Operations Centre, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Abuja, by Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS). In order to take advantage of the collaborative capabilities displayed by the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security services, the CAS stressed the necessity of updating the operating environment. He also emphasized the importance of all NAF staff adopting a new mentality in order for this revamp to be successful. Any type of overhaul carried out by the Service will be a waste of time and resources, according to Air Vice Marshal Abubakar, “without the right attitude by the officers and men of the NAF.”
The Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, praised the NAF troops for their commitment and dedication, particularly those working on ongoing counterterrorism operations. The CAS emphasized the necessity of stepping up measures to rid society of all criminal activity. He emphasized the need to maintain air and ground operations while recognizing the benefit of using non-kinetic methods to resolve complaints that may be outside the military’s scope. Air Vice Marshal Abubakar went on to say that his leadership style would be inclusive, guaranteeing the participation of every member of staff and placing a priority on operational needs, infrastructure development, and welfare.
The CAS also talked about his command philosophy, which he intends to base on the AFN’s 2017 National Defence Policy document’s vision and goal. He underlined the significance of adhering to a shared vision and mission in order to improve esprit de corps, jointness, and synergy within the AFN. His command philosophy aims to promote harmony and cooperation across the many NAF divisions, protect the welfare of all troops, and provide a comprehensive picture of completing assigned duties.
In order to face the demands of a constantly shifting security environment, the operational environment of the Nigerian Air Force will soon undergo an update. The NAF aims to increase its efficacy and add to Nigeria’s overall security and welfare by promoting a culture of cooperation, dedication, and welfare.
