The Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Mallam Uba Sani, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. During the meeting, Governor Uba Sani expressed appreciation for the immense support provided by the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to Kaduna State and called for further assistance to strengthen security in the state and its environs.

Governor Uba Sani emphasized the significance of relative peace and harmony in Kaduna State, being the heart of Northern Nigeria. He expressed the state’s willingness to support the AFN with local intelligence and other necessary assistance to ensure the unhindered discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

In response, the CDS thanked Governor Uba Sani for being the first to visit following his appointment. Major General Musa assured the Governor of the AFN’s commitment to supporting all parts of Nigeria, particularly Kaduna State, in combating insecurity. He highlighted the AFN’s plans to review operational modalities to enhance capabilities for better results, including both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to their operations to combat criminality.

Major General Musa stressed the importance of engaging youths in meaningful activities as a means to reduce crime, and he called on the media to promote love and unity in their reporting.

However, the CDS acknowledged one of the challenges faced by the military in the discharge of its duties, namely the administrative bottlenecks involved in the dispensation of judicial cases concerning criminals handed over to the civil authority for prosecution.

The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a photo session as a reminder of the significant visit by Governor Uba Sani.

Governor Uba Sani’s visit to the CDS underscores the collaboration and shared commitment between the Kaduna State Government and the Armed Forces of Nigeria in addressing security challenges in the state. It highlights the need for continued support and cooperation to achieve lasting peace and stability in Kaduna and its environs.
