The Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) has recorded another setback after troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri successfully repelled a midnight attack on Mafa local government area in the North Eastern Borno State.

According to Security Digest, Zagazola Makama, a Counter-insurgency and Security Expert in the Lake Chad region confirmed the attack and reported that scores of the armed Boko haram who were suspected to be members of ISWAP stormed Mafa town in gun trucks and motorcycles. The terrorist began to attack the troops with heavy gunfire.
Makama added that intelligence sources in Lake Chad confirmed that the troops successfully repelled the attack which forced the insurgent to run for their lives.
The sources said “They tried to attack us through Charly Papa 1, but were able to foil their evil plans. The terrorists were seriously pounded severely.
“They were forced to retreat and fled, abandoning their evil mission. Additionally, No casualty on the side of the troops”, said the sources.
