The Command has detained 25-year-old Anas Auwal’m’ of Bauchi State’s Tsangaya village after apprehending him in connection with the abduction and horrific murder of five-year-old Abba Yahuza’m’ of the same location.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on October 11, 2022, at or around 1400 hours, the suspect used candy to entice the victim into his room. The victim’s father was then threatened with bringing the sum of five million naira (N5, 000,000.00) as ransom, but the father informed the suspect that he couldn’t raise the required amount, according to SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil in a statement signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police for Bauchi State Command.

The victim knew the culprit, and the suspect eventually realized that if he let the victim go, his identity would be made public.

So, the suspect made the decision to kill the victim by hacking him to death in his room. He then waited until nightfall, wrapped the body in a sack, and buried it in a little hole.

The suspect has admitted to the crime after being charged with it and taken to court by police commissioner CP Umar Mamman Sanda.

In a similar spirit, the CP has recommended parents and legal representatives to be watchful and security-conscious regarding the whereabouts of their children.
Regarding the criminal plot, armed robbery, kidnapping, and having illegal firearms and ammunition, the statement also stated that;

After receiving information that the suspects had been spotted in a bush, a tactical team was quickly assembled to cordon off the area and engage in a gun duel. Due to the superior firepower, two of the suspects were injured and were successfully arrested, while the other two managed to escape with gun injuries. All efforts have been made to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.

Following orders from the Chief of Police of the Bauchi State Police Command, CP Umar Mamman Sanda, fdc, psc, mnim, to all DPOs and tactical Commanders to maintain a crackdown on criminal elements in the State, the Command has been successful in dismantling a motorcycle-stealing gang in Bauchi State and elsewhere.
