The Commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Major General Adekunle Adeyinka received the Acting Corps Commander Medical (Ag CCM), Nigerian Army Medical Corps (NAMC) Colonel Samson Okoigi who paid a courtesy visit to College recently.

In his remarks, Colonel Okoigi expressed appreciation to the Commandant and members of his staff for the warm reception and hospitality. He added that he deemed it very necessary to pay a courtesy visit to familiarize himself with the College and also to strengthen the already existing relationship between the NACOLM and the NAMC.

The Ag CCM further solicited the collaboration of the College in training personnel of the NAMC. Adding that the College has a high standard of training that enables personnel to perform optimally in their duties.

Colonel Okogi reiterated that the Corps has received tremendous support from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya. He stated that a lot of useful equipment has been procured for most of the reference hospitals. He noted that the Corp is trying to consolidate on what is already existing so as to particularly make the reference hospitals centres of excellence in certain specialties.

In his response, Major General Adekunle Adeyinka congratulated the Corps Commander on his appointment. He also used the opportunity to express sincere appreciation to the members of the College’s Governing Board for the support that has been provided under the guidance of the Board Chairman, the COAS. He added that since assumption of duty in August 2022, the Army has committed over two billion naira into NACOLM to run her activities.

General Adeyinka commended the Ag CCM for his words on continuing from where his predecessor stopped. The Commandant stressed that it is very key as it tells that they will be continuity and also build on existing ideas rather than reinventing the wheel. He added that it shows the Ag CCM character as someone that is progressive and ready to take the Corps to the next level.

He also applauded the Ag CCM for his professionalism, diligence, character and sound academic excellence. He urged him to find time to stop by to share his experiences, thoughts and knowledge with students.

General Adeyinka further stressed some areas in logistics that require the inputs of the NAMC, which he noted has not been fully explored both as a country and the Army. He pointed out the aspect of Humanitarian Logistics in Peace Support Operations, which the Commandant sought the support of the Corps to help actualize.

He expatiated that the College is ready to collaborate with the Corps and requested for more medical officers to be posted to the College as Directing Staff. The Corps Commander was later conducted around the College for facility inspection.

The highlight of the event was the exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, guided tour of the College facilities, interactive moment with NAMC students on the course, group photographs and refreshments to climax the event.
