Acting IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Engages Department of ICT to Implement Smart Policing Strategies

Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has initiated discussions with the Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to advance his vision of smart policing strategies. Recognizing the potential and feasibility of incorporating technology into law enforcement practices, the IGP aims to leverage ICT solutions to enhance policing operations nationwide.

In a series of briefings held with the Department of ICT, the Acting IGP explored various innovative approaches to modernize and optimize police services. With the goal of achieving smarter, more efficient law enforcement, the IGP emphasized the importance of utilizing technology to enhance crime prevention, investigation, and community engagement.

The adoption of smart policing strategies entails leveraging advanced technological tools such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, surveillance systems, and digital communication platforms. These cutting-edge solutions will facilitate real-time information sharing, proactive crime detection, and seamless communication among police officers and relevant stakeholders.

During the briefings, the Department of ICT showcased various ICT initiatives that have the potential to transform policing operations. This included integrated information systems for comprehensive crime analysis, robust communication networks, digital evidence management systems, and citizen-centric mobile applications. The Acting IGP expressed optimism about the feasibility and effectiveness of these solutions in enhancing police efficiency, responsiveness, and public trust.

Acting IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun underscored the importance of harnessing ICT advancements to optimize resource allocation, improve decision-making processes, and streamline administrative functions within the police force. By embracing smart policing strategies, law enforcement agencies can enhance their capacity to combat crime, maintain public safety, and foster stronger relationships with the communities they serve.
