AFRD 2023: Kwara State Governor Pays Tribute to Fallen Heroes

The Governor of Kwara State His Excellency Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on 15 January, joined other Nigerians across the federation to honour the fallen heroes.

 

The State Governor Malam Abdulrazaq carried out the gesture during the 2023 Armed Forces Rememberance Day Parade and laying of wreath ceremony held at the Kwara State amusement Park Ilorin.

The State Governor who was the special guest of honour, performed the inspection of guards, laying of wreath and the release of pigeons which signifies peace.

High points of the ceremony were; reviewing of the parade, last post, intercessory prayers, laying of wreaths, firing of the volley and reveille.

Dignitaries present were, the Deputy Governor of Kwara State His Excellency Mr Kayode Alabi, Acting Chief Judge of the State Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, Commander 22 Armour Brigade Brig Gen AA Babalola, Commandant Nigerian Navy College of Health Sciences Navy Capt AN Ossai, Commander 303 Medium Airlift Group Nigerian Airforce Air Cdre AO Bamidele and Commissioner of Police Kwara State CP Paul Odama amongst others.

In a related development, the Commander 22 Armour Brigade Brigadier General AA Babalola organised a special lunch to show appreciation for honouring the fallen heroes in the state.

While remarking at the event which took place at the Sobi Cantonment Officers’ Mess Ilorin, General Babalola stated that the event was also organised in the state in line with the the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, to appreciate the families of the fallen heroes for the sacrifices made by their departed spouses, who gave their lives for the peace and national integration of the country.

According to him, the exercise would be a continuous gesture, stressing that the families of the fallen heroes would not be left to suffer hardship, as the Brigade will continue to cater for their welfare whenever the need arises.

He further prayed God to grant the families the fortitude to remain strong and steadfast at this trying time of their lives .

The occasion which had in attendance heads of security agencies within the state, senior military officers and officers among other dignitaries, featured presentation of gift items to the widows of the fallen heroes and group photographs.
