For the departing Academy Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), Army Warrant Officer (AWO) Sa’ad Muhammad, who just resigned from the Nigerian Army after 35 years of honorable service, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) organized an appropriate Send-Off event. The Commandant, Senior Officers, soldiers, civilian personnel, as well as family members and other well-wishers of the departing Academy RSM attended the Send-Off event on January 13, 2023, in the Academy Drill Shed, Afaka.
AWO Sa’ad Mohammed was commended for successfully finishing an excellent career in the Nigerian Army by Commandant NDA, Maj =-Gen IM Yusuf, during his remarks at the event. Not many people who began their careers in the Armed Forces with AWO Sa’ad Mohammed have been fortunate enough to reach this point, he continued, adding that the Academy RSM is undoubtedly one that is worthy of celebration. The Commandant so took use of the occasion to pray for those whose souls had been lost during the course of their service and for God to grant those who had been hurt while doing their duties quick recovery.
The outgoing Academy RSM is a true personification of brains and strength, according to Maj-Gen Yusuf, who admitted that he was impressed when listening to the Academy Adjutant, Lt Col MK Nyiam, read the profile of AWO Sa’ad Mohammed. He added that due to AWO Sa’ad Mohammed’s extensive experience and knowledge, the Nigerian Army would miss him much more than he would miss the Army. The Academy will look for methods to keep working with AWO Mohammed once he departs because his assistance will always be required, the Commandant also disclosed. Maj-Gen Yusuf then expressed his gratitude to the Academy RSM’s family for giving him the support he needed to advance in his profession and sent his well wishes on the departing Academy RSM for his future endeavors.
Lt. Col. MK Nyiam, the Academy Adjutant, had earlier made the Opening Remarks at the event. He said that the Academy was there to honor one of the best members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who had dedicated his life to serving in the NDA, Nigerian Army, and the nation at large with loyalty and valor. He continued by expressing his gratitude for AWO Sa’ad Mohammed’s outstanding service and noting that the departing Academy RSM is in fact a disciplined soldier deserving of praise for being a role model to all. Lt-Col Nyiam continued by stating that AWO Sa’ad Mohammed’s devotion to duty and depth of service expertise are very impressive.
The departing Academy RSM praised Almighty God for allowing him to be there to witness the event. He also acknowledged that the Nigerian Army had shaped who he is today. He also expressed gratitude to Maj-Gen IM Yusuf, the Commandant of the NDA, for his generosity, mentoring, and the great influence he has had in his life. He also took the opportunity to inspire his former teammates to continue their good work and to give their all in order to make the Nigerian Armed Forces the greatest in the world. He concluded by thanking everyone who had attended the event and wishing them a safe travel back to their respective locations.
On January 29, 1969, in Gombe State, Army Warrant Officer Sa’ad Mohammed was born. His elementary schooling was at Logan Pana Primary School in Bauchi, after which he transferred to Government Secondary School in Darazo for his secondary education. He received a BSc in Environmental Education from Bauchi College of Art and Science. The Outgoing Academy RSM took courses appropriate for his rank. Additionally, he has held a number of positions inside the Nigerian Army. The COAS Award for Regimentation is one among the honors that AWO Mohammed has acquired during the course of his career in the NA.
