Anambra State, Nigeria – The Anambra Vigilante Group and the 302 Regiment worked together to successfully launch an operation against fighters associated with the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the South East region of Nigeria. The raid led to the destruction of camps in Oroma and Umuewelum Anam, both in Anambra State’s Anambra West Local Government Area. On Sunday, July 23, 2023, the operation was conducted with the main goal of reducing the fighters’ illegal operations in the impacted communities.
The raid operation was a major success for the military, according to a statement made by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations. Three Lexus SUVs, two motorcycles, an AK-47 rifle, an AKMS rifle, and other goods were found. The operation also resulted in the arrest of eight brigands, further impeding the prohibited group’s evil plans.
The army also carried out a successful raid on an IPOB camp in Mmiata Anam in Anambra South in a separate but related operation. During this engagement, the brave soldiers battled the irredentists, neutralizing one IPOB warrior. During the operation, a second combatant was taken alive. In addition, the soldiers were successful in removing one AK-47 rifle, one dane pistol, and police uniforms from the camp.
The Nigerian Army has extended gratitude to all law-abiding inhabitants, particularly the upright and entrepreneurial people of the South East, for their ongoing support and collaboration with the soldiers and other security agencies. The ongoing clearance operations, which aim to reestablish peace and security in the area, have been made possible thanks in large part to the cooperative efforts of the local people and security personnel.

In order to solve the security issues the region is facing, the successful raids and operations against the banned IPOB and ESN groups are essential.
