AIG Christy Cookey Assumes Command at Zone 11 Command Osogbo

As soon as she took over as the newly assigned Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 11 Command Osogbo, which includes the commands for the states of Oyo and Osun, AIG Cookey Christy Ibiso psc, she vowed to inspire the officers and men of the force to effectively work, police, and secure their territory.

This information was made public in a statement by SP Ayeni Benjamin, Police Public Relations Officer for Zone 11 Command in Osogbo. That’s what he said. Additionally, she pledged to make the zone’s enforcement more transparent and inclusive.

AIG Cookey is a native of Opobo Town in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, Christy Ibiso PSC was appointed to the police on March 15, 1988, as a cadet ASP.

She has Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication degree from University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Enugu State. She earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Port Harcourt before finishing her education at the University of Science and Technology Port Harcourt in Rivers State with a Masters Degree in Educational Management.

She participated in local and international professional training programs, such as the Psychology in Police Education Course in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2008, the Tactical Leadership and Command Course in Jos, Nigeria, in 2010, and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course in Jos, Nigeria, in 2015.

AIG Cookey has worked in a variety of formations and roles. In 2008, she was CSP “A” Rivers State Command, and in 2009, she served as 2ic B’OP’s Rivers State Command and 2ic State CID’s Rivers State Command. She also held the position of DC Admin for Zone 6 in Calabar from 2016 to 2019, after which she was elevated and transferred to the Bayelsa State Command.
AIG Cookey was given the prestigious rank of AIG after being promoted to CP, and she was assigned to Zone 11 Command Osogbo in 2022. She served as CP Investment, DLS Force Headquarters Abuja in 2020 and as CP Welfare, DFA force Headquarters Abuja in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

She is happily married with kids, and she enjoys reading and playing word games. While her motto is using the fear of God to serve others and the country.
