Abuja, Nigeria – The Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, has formally taken over. On July 3, 2023, there was a ceremony to officially hand over control to the new NAF leadership. In place of Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa, Air Commodore Gabkwet assumed command.
Due to his prior tenure as the DOPRI from March 9, 2021, to January 6, 2023, Air Commodore Gabkwet is no stranger to the position. The fact that he was reappointed to this esteemed position attests to his exceptional work ethic and public relations knowledge. He was the Commander at the 551 NAF Station in Jos, Plateau State, before to taking up his new position.
Managing and distributing information about the Nigerian Air Force will be a key responsibility of Air Commodore Gabkwet’s position as the director of public relations and information. In addition to emphasizing the NAF’s accomplishments and operations, he will be in charge of fostering a favorable public image and delivering accurate and timely information to the public and the media.
To effectively communicate with the public and promote the Nigerian Air Force’s image, Air Commodore Gabkwet’s depth of expertise and leadership abilities will surely be helpful. His appointment opens a new era in the NAF’s dedication to openness, responsibility, and keeping a solid rapport with the general public.
It is anticipated that under his direction, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information would keep working to inform the public about the NAF’s activities, projects, and contributions to national security. As they aim for excellence in communication and public engagement, the Nigerian Air Force is looking forward to gaining from Air Commodore Gabkwet’s experience.
