The Kano State Police Command has made a major breakthrough in the middle of the ongoing nationwide protests by apprehending a notorious armed robber and recovering two AK-47 rifles, 47 rounds of live ammunition, and a huge amount of cash. N4,986,000.00, or four million, nine hundred and eighty-six thousand Naira, is the total sum collected.

The arrest happened when a resident of Yandadi Village, Kunchi LGA, Kano State reported a robbery incidence at around 2:00 AM, according to a statement made public by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Command. According to the victim’s account, he was ambushed by armed robbers who broke into his home and took fifteen million naira (N15,000,000.00).

A team of detectives was immediately ordered by State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, to conduct intelligence-led patrols in order to capture the offenders and retrieve their functioning weapons, despite the obstacles presented by the current statewide protests.

The squad apprehended the main suspect, 35-year-old Hassan Iliya of Alhazawa Village, Musawa LGA, Katsina State, at around 6:00 AM on that day when he was attempting to flee on a motorcycle. During a spot check, a sack containing N4,986,000.00 in cash, 47 rounds of live ammunition, and two AK-47 weapons was discovered.

The police are making every effort to apprehend all accomplices as part of an ongoing investigation. In order to prevent acts that can incite violence, CP Garba has advised the public to maintain their patriotism. Additionally, he urged the populace to maintain their vigilance and report any suspicious movements or activities to the Kano State Police Command by calling 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926.
