Today, March 20, 2023, at the Ihejirika Auditorium in the Jaji Military Cantonment, the Armed Forces Command and Staff College started Exercise HASKE BIYU 2023 for Senior Course 45.

While formally opening the exercise. Air Vice Marshal EA Wonah said, the purpose of the exercise is to provide stakeholders with the information they need so that all participating agencies can work together to use the resources at their disposal to address a particular circumstance. As a result, the exercise is planned to concentrate on security challenges in one of the country’s six geopolitical zones, taking into account the numerous security challenges in various regions of the nation.

This year’s edition, according to the commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College will concentrate on the South West Geo-Political zone where banditry, kidnappings, and agitations have been recognized as emerging security challenges.

He continued by saying that the nation’s security and the citizens’ financial stability have been compromised by these issues aimed at the society’s most defenseless members. As a result, it is anticipated that the exercise will expose the participants to the unique characteristics and difficulties of conducting operations in a low-intensity conflict and counter-insurgency setting. This, he claimed, would emphasize the position of each security agency involved in these tasks and, in doing so, inform participants of their capabilities and limitations.

The Exercise is appropriate and timely, according to the Special Guest of Honor, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), DAUDA Ali Biu, who said as much in his speech. The Exercise offers a forum for the exchange of ideas that will strengthen cooperation and collaboration between stakeholders for the creation of long-term conflict resolution and management mechanisms.

He exhorted the attendees to participate fully in order for the knowledge they will acquire from working together to fulfill their duties. In addition to other training events, Exercise HASKE BIYU, a two-week joint and multi-Agency training on internal security and low-intensity conflict, includes paper presentations and demonstrations of internal security operations.
