Major General Osasogie Idowu Uzamere, a retired senior officer in the Nigerian Army, passed away. After a brief illness, the former army general passed away on Sunday at his home in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. He was the Infantry Corps (CIC) Jaji Commander.
The death of the retired senior officer, a renowned former Commander of the Infantry Corps, has left the Army in mourning. After passing away, Major General Uzamere left behind a legacy of remarkable service and devotion to the country.
The late Major General Osasogie Idowu Uzamere (Rtd) had a long and honorable military career. He held a number of command and staff positions while serving, displaying his strategic thinking and leadership abilities. He was instrumental in improving the operational capability of the Nigerian Army’s ground units as the Commander of the Infantry Corps.
Major General Uzamere had a great awareness of the intricate problems the Nigerian Army faced throughout his career and put in a lot of effort to create plans and initiatives to solve them. His leadership and expertise were crucial in boosting the infantry’s capabilities and the Army’s operational readiness.
Although Major General Uzamere’s passing leaves a vacuum in the military community, future generations of warriors will continue to be motivated by his legacy. Those who had the honor of serving beside him will remember and love his dedication to duty, professionalism, and excellent service.
He held the positions of Chief Logistics at Army Headquarters in 2021, Commandant Nigerian Army College of Logistics in Lagos from 2018 to 2020, Commander Joint Taskforce Operation Pulo Sheild Sector 2 in 2013, Commander 2 Amphibious Brigade Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt from February 2013 to 2014, and Chief Instructor Nigerian Army College of Logistics from September 2011 to February 2013. From about October 2007 until September 2010, in Lagos. From February 2007 to June 2007, as the commanding officer of the 73rd Battalion of Operation Restore Hope in Bayelsa State. From April 2005 to February 2007.
He attended Kings College London, MA, International Security and Strategy 2010 – 2011, Royal College of Defence Studies, Post Graduate, International Studies and Strategy 2010 – 2011 amongst others.
