Army Organises Inter Formations Combat Cross Country Championship 2023, 3 Division wins

According to Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), troops of the Nigerian Army must undergo ongoing training in order to maintain the degree of operational success lately attained in eradicating crime in the nation. The COAS was speaking during the Nigerian Army Inter Formations Combat Cross Country Competition 2023, which was held at the Small Arms Range Miango,Jos in Plateau State.

He stated that the core of the combat competition was that in order for troops to succeed during operations, they had to be physically fit, have endurance, and be prepared for combat with their enemies.

The Chief of Army Staff expressed optimism that the lessons learned from the combat competition will go a long way to improve not only the performance of troops in the future, but also serve a means to enhance troops’ physical and mental well-being towards success in their future military expenditures. The Chief of Army Staff commended the competition organizers for adhering to the prescribed standard of military exercise.

The COAS thanked President Muhammadu Buhari of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for his unwavering support of the Nigerian Army and congratulated General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim, on the successful hosting of the event.He also praised the athletes for their commitment to one another, their self-control, and their sportsmanlike behavior during the contest.

Following the awarding of trophies to the winners and champions, the COAS urged the competitors to adopt a culture of individual fitness training and a spirit of cooperation.

The NA’s various divisions each contributed a participant to the competition. In addition to a 15-kilometer combat cross-country race, it included a 5-kilometer combat race through challenging terrain, beam heaving, sit-ups, push-ups, vertical rope climbs, step-up bench tests, and more.

3 Division won the competition, followed by 2 Division in second place and 6 Division in third, according to the order of merit. Senior military officers in active duty and retirement, as well as representatives of the Jos government, all attended the closing ceremony.

The awarding of trophies and honors to people and formations was one of the event’s highlights.Combat Cross Country
