The Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) organised a send-off ceremony in honour of five Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) of the College after more than 3 decades of meritorious service to the nation. The ceremony took place at the College Auditorium in Abuja.

The affected SNCOs are: Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Ukusu Emmanuel MWO Mamman Murtala, MWO Abubakar Bello, Warrant Officer (WO) Lasisi Sekoni and WO Animasaun Adekunle. The SNCOs are retiring after successful completion of an exemplary service not only to the Nigerian Army, but to the nation at large.

In his address, the Commandant AWCN Major General AB Alabi, ably represented by the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies Brigadier General AU Alkali commended the soldiers and thanked them for their service. The Commandant applauded their accomplishments, contributions and praised them for their dedication to duty. He emphasized that while carrying out their responsibilities, the SNCOs endured difficulties, make sacrifices, and face danger with unflinching commitment and bravery.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, the Director Administration AWCN Brigadier General RO Agbi appreciated the SNCOs for their immense contributions and selfless service to the Nigerian Army, the College and the nation at large. He stated that the retiring SNCOs are honored with great pride as they have served the country with distinction and have been an integral part of the College’s successes. He added that the College is grateful for their services and sacrifices, and he wished them all the best as they embark on a new chapter of their lives.

The outgoing College RSM MWO Bello in his vote of thanks on behalf of the celebrants, thanked the Commandant, and the entire management of the College for their support and cooperation while serving in the institution. He also reassured the Commandant that they will be good ambassadors of the College.

The climax of the ceremony was the presentation of gift items to the celebrants by the Deputy Commandant as a mark of appreciation for their contributions and service to the Nigerian Army.
