IGP Usman Alkali Baba hosted journalists and crime reporters from all media outlets, including print, electronic, and social media, who cover the police beat, to a banquet on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Nigeria Police Officers’ Mess in Garki, Abuja, as a way to thank them for their fair reporting and to further strengthen the partnership between the NPF and the media.

The Force Public Relations Officer in Abuja, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, released a statement to the media in which the IGP thanked the reporters for their commitment to ensuring that members of the Nigerian public receive timely updates on matters relating to the Force while also urging them to uphold fair reporting and patriotism in the performance of their duties. He also urged them to conduct themselves in a manner free of sentiment and indiscretion.

The IGP extends his best wishes for a prosperous new year in 2023 to the media and the whole Nigerian population as they celebrate the holiday season. He promised that the working relationship will strengthen in the upcoming year and underlined that his administration was dedicated to press freedom and issue-based dialogues, which were the driving forces behind the productive partnership that was experienced in 2022.
