The 1 Division Nigerian Army and Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch dealt a heavy blow to bandits were the Bandits suffers heavy casualty in Kaduna State in an effort to foster an environment that will be very favorable for the peaceful and successful conduct of the general elections in 2023 and deny bandits freedom of action in the 1 Division Area of Responsibility. According to Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, during the very aggressive fighting patrol that lasted more than 48-hours, troops successfully cleared the villages of Mando, Sabon Birni, Maidaro, Dogon Dawa, Galadimawa, Saulawa, Farin Ruwa, and Polewire.
The patrol resulted in the neutralization of five bandits and the recovery of ten bikes from the bandits, while several other motorcycles were burned or destroyed. (Two AK-47 rifles), (five IEDs), (two mobile phones), (bandit uniforms), and magazines are among the additional things the troops found.
The General-Officer-Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army expressed his satisfaction with the behavior of the soldiers during the operation, praised them for their bravery and tenacity, and ordered them not to give up until banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and all other crimes are put an end to.
