Be Bold, Courageous Against Criminals – General Mutkut Charges Sector 1 Troops

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Task Force Northwest (CJTFNW) Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), Major General Godwin Mutkut has direcetd troops to be bold and courageous to deal decisively with all criminal elements and enemies of the state within their Areas of Operations. The Commander gave these directives during his operational visits to Sector 1 troops of  Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) of OPHD at Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji of Zamfara states on Wednesday 22 February 2023.

General Mutkut who assumed the command of OPHD on 17 January 2023, commended the troops for their efforts in protecting lives and properties of citizens within their places of deployment. He also commended the troops for the successes achieved so far and in decimating the activities of the bandits. He further charged the troops not to relent but take the fight to the bandits enclaves and flush the remnants out from their hideouts.

The GOC/Comd JTF NW OPHD encouraged the troops to continuous to act professionally in the discharge of their duties especially in the coming general elections. He charged the troops to abide by the Codes of Conducts and Rules of Engagement for the 2023 elections. He added that the primary roles of the troops during the election is to provide robust security and protection of lives and properties during and after the election. He further warned troops to remain apolitical and not to be seen fraternizing with any politicians during the conduct of the election.

General Mutkut was accompanied by the Commander 1 Brigade/Sector 1 OPHD Brigadier General CA Baushe, Commander 8 Military Intelligence Brigade/Coordinator Joint Intelligence Fusion Center OPHD Brigadier General JU Gombe. Others are the Component Logistic Commander OPHD Brigadier General SO Adejimi, Land Component Commander OPHD Brigadier General KC Uwaha among other principal staff officers from Headquarters OPHD.
