The Nigerian Army Women Command (NAWC) witnessed a formal Handing and Taking Over ceremony on Wednesday, 29 January 2026, marking the transition of command from the outgoing Commander, Brigadier General MI Amatso, to the incoming Commander, Brigadier General Mohammed Sani Adamu.
The ceremony, held at the NAWC Headquarters, symbolized continuity of leadership and commitment to the Command’s mandate of capacity development, personnel welfare, and operational support within the Nigerian Army.
In his farewell address, Brigadier General MI Amatso expressed gratitude to the officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of the Command for their loyalty, cooperation, and support during his tenure. He noted that the achievements recorded by NAWC were a collective effort and urged personnel to extend the same level of dedication and professionalism to the new Commander. Brigadier General Amatso also thanked the Army leadership for the opportunity to serve and wished his successor success in steering the affairs of the Command.
On assuming command, Brigadier General Mohammed Sani Adamu thanked the Chief of Army Staff and the Army leadership for the confidence reposed in him. He commended his predecessor for laying a solid foundation and pledged to build on existing gains. Brigadier General Adamu emphasized his commitment to teamwork, discipline, and collaboration with other formations and units in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.
The incoming NAWC Commander called on officers and soldiers to remain professional, united, and mission-focused, assuring them of inclusive leadership aimed at enhancing personnel development and operational effectiveness.
The Handing and Taking Over ceremony underscored the Nigerian Army’s tradition of orderly leadership transition, reinforcing institutional stability, professionalism, and continuity of purpose within the Nigerian Army Women Command.
