The Commander18 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Taiye Ahmed, celebrated the New Year with frontline troops by hosting a special lunch at the Brigade Tactical Headquarters in Tagina, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State on January 1, 2025.
During the event, General Ahmed conveyed the New Year goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, to the officers and soldiers. In the message, the COAS expressed gratitude for their sacrifices and unwavering dedication in addressing the country’s security challenges. He urged the troops to remain disciplined, loyal, and patriotic while continuing to excel in their assigned responsibilities.
His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmadu Attahiru II, represented by Hakimin Tagina, Alhaji Garba Bako, applauded the Nigerian Army for establishing the Brigade Tactical Headquarters at Tagina. He commended the troops for their timely responses to security threats, which have enhanced safety in the region.
The event featured an assortment of meals and beverages served by General Ahmed, supported by district heads, the Chairman of Rafi Local Government Council, the Commander of 18 Brigade Garrison, the Commanding Officer of 45 Battalion, and other security agency representatives.
Troops and dignitaries engaged in lighthearted activities, including riddles, jokes, and relaxing moments. The ceremony concluded with prayers led by chaplains, wishing for a successful and peaceful 2025.

The lunch provided an opportunity to appreciate the troops’ dedication and foster camaraderie as they returned to their respective Forward Operating Bases. The event was described as a resounding success, without any hitches.
