On October 14, 2024, in the Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army Auditorium in Kawo, Kaduna, Major General Eyitayo Folusho Oyinlola, the Military Secretary Army, MS (A), held a sensitization session for officers in the 1 Division Area of Responsibility. The program sought to highlight the importance of career planning and opportunities for Nigerian Army officers.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso thanked the Military Secretary Army for the educational talk during his welcome remarks. In keeping with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy of making sure that officers are informed about their postings, promotions, and general professional development, he emphasized the value of career planning in assisting officers in establishing and achieving their professional goals.
The GOC urged members to pursue greatness via diligence, self-control, and dedication to their responsibilities. He encouraged the audience to participate fully in the presentation by paying close attention and raising questions to clear up any confusion.
During his closing remarks, Major General Oyinlola urged attendees to take the lessons gained seriously and thanked the GOC for sponsoring the program. He reiterated the need for high levels of discipline to prevent endangering their careers and stressed the need of sharing the learned information with other officers who were unable to attend because of operational obligations.
Prominent individuals attended the function, including Major General John Ochefu Ochai, the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, including Commanders and Principal Staff Officers from Headquarters 1 Division and the NDA. The career planning talk, the guests’ book signing, the souvenir presentation, and the group photos were the day’s highlights.
