The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s IS) has recorded a significant success in its recent sting operation in Rivers State, resulting in the arrest of five suspects and the impoundment of a long open body truck. The operation targeted illegal oil-related activities, uncovering large quantities of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) concealed in fertilizer packs.

The CG’s IS, a specialized unit dedicated to intelligence and enforcement within the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), conducted the operation at different locations in Rivers State. The suspects were apprehended during the operation, and their activities were found to be in violation of established laws governing the oil and gas sector.

The seized long open body truck, suspected to be used for transporting the illicitly refined AGO, was impounded as part of the enforcement effort. The concealed AGO in fertilizer packs indicates a method employed by those involved in the illegal oil trade to evade detection.

In addition to the arrests and seizures, the CG’s IS successfully dismantled an illegal oil dump, further disrupting the activities of individuals engaged in illicit oil activities. The dismantling of the illegal oil dump is a crucial step in curbing environmental degradation and preventing potential hazards associated with unauthorized oil processing.

The CG’s IS, under the leadership of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, continues to play a vital role in combating illegal activities, ensuring the security of oil and gas infrastructure, and upholding the rule of law. The successful operation demonstrates the commitment of the NSCDC to addressing security challenges and safeguarding the nation’s resources.
