12 Brigade Nigerian Army

The 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, with its headquarters in Lokoja, has been placed under the leadership of Brigadier-General Isang Akpaumontia. He succeeded Brigadier General Nsikak Edet, who was transferred to lead the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

The outgoing Commander thanked Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, for appointing him as the 12 Brigade’s first Commander and giving him the unique responsibility of founding the new Brigade.

He expressed gratitude to everyone of the Brigade’s officers and men for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout his tour of duty with the 12 Brigade, noting that the successes achieved were a result of everyone in the Brigade working together. He pleaded with them to support and cooperate with the new Commander on an equal basis.

In order to continue growing the new Brigade, the new Commander pleaded for the same degree of cooperation shown to his predecessor.

Brigadier General Isang Akpaumontia previously served as commander of the 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, which has its headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, before being named commander of the 12 Brigade Lokoja.

In the Nigerian military, top commanders are frequently redeployed in order to provide them opportunities to gain experience in a variety of tasks and settings. Additionally, it ensures that the military can adjust and react to the nation’s shifting security environment.

In recent years, the Nigerian military has had to contend with a variety of security issues, such as terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping. In order to overcome these issues and enhance the overall efficacy of military operations, redeployment is viewed as a crucial step.

All of the Nigerian military’s branches, including the Army, Air Force, and Navy, redeployed officers in recent years. A number of senior officers are anticipated to be transferred to new commands, while others will be sent to operational areas to take charge of crucial operations against terrorist organizations, bandits, and other criminal elements.
