Following the recent redeployment of senior Officers and Officers across Nigerian Army Formations and Units in the country, the Headquarters Nigerian Army Medical Corps has witnessed yet another change of command between Colonel Idris Babatunde Solebo and colonel Samson O Okoigi in a grand style at the headquarters Nigerian Army Medical Corps.
On the 8th February 2023, Colonel Samson Okoigi took over command of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps as the 34th Corps Commander Medical from Colonel Idris Solebo who is proceeding to Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as the acting Deputy Director Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Speaking during the Handling and Taking ceremony at the headquarters Nigerian Army Medical Corps in Bonny Cantonment, the out-gone Corps Commander Medical expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for the opportunity given to him to lead the Corps. He added that, during his tenure the Corps was tasked at various times to carry out different assignment which was accomplished with the support of officers and men of the Corps, and urged them to give the same support to the new Corps Commander Medical.
While giving his remarks the Corps Commander Medical Colonel Samson Okoigi appreciates the out-gone Corps Commander Medical for the legacies he is leaving behind and promised to build upon these legacies to take the Corps to a greater height. He added that all hands must be on deck to move the Corps forward and requested that the same support that was given to the out-gone Corps Commander Medical should be given to him.
The climax of the ceremony includes the signing of handing and taking over notes, Symbolic Handing over of flag, changing of insignia and group photograph.
