Change of Baton: Brigadier General Edet Takes Over as Commander 14 Brigade

As a result of the recent posting released by the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Nsikak John Edet has today Friday 14 July 2023 taken over command as Commander 14 Brigade at Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks Ohafia, Abia State.

In his remarks, the Commander 14 Brigade, Brigadier General Edet stated that the Brigade in under his watch will meet all the assigned mandates and tasks.

General Edet disclosed that he will synergise with all stakeholders to ensure that the much needed peace is achieved in Abia State and its environs . He further added that this would provide the conducive environment for all well meaning citizens to carry out their normal life without molestation or threats of any kind.

He warned all criminal elements to stay away from his domain as it is no longer business as usual. The Commander also called on all loyal citizens to collaborate with him, while the criminals and evil ones are to repent from their illicit acts, turn new leaves and become good and better citizens.

He further disclosed that synergy with other security agencies and meaningful dialogue with appropriate authorities is the best way out . He urged all evil doers and criminals to stop the unwonted killing of innocent persons.

The incoming commander express delight on the successes recorded by the outgoing commander and pledged to consolidate on the successes and operational gains towards achieving the the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Command philosophy which is to “ Transform the Nigerian Army into a well trained , equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment “.

The outgone Commander Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi during his farewell address, thanked officer’s and men for the successes recorded during his tour of duty which he said was made achievable by God and collective efforts of all officers and men of the Brigade.

He urged them to extend same support and dedication to the new Commander.Prior to the handing and taking over ceremony, a send forth ceremony was held in honour of the outgone Briagde Commander and other senior officers posted out of the unit at the Brigade Officers’ Mess on Sunday, 9 July 2023.

highlights of the handing and taking over ceremony were the signing of handing and taking over notes, address to troops, lowering and hoisting of Brigade flag signifying the end and the beginning of a new era at the quarter guard.
