Major General TA Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, has officially opened the newly built and furnished residence for the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army in Gusau, Zamfara State. On July 13, 2023, the commissioning ceremony took place.
Major General Lagbaja emphasized the value of enhancing employee and family welfare throughout the occasion. He stressed the critical function of the RSM in maintaining the fundamental principles of the Nigerian Army’s formations and units. He exhorted the soldiers to be committed, orderly, and obedient to the Army and legitimate authority.
The Nigerian Army Cantonment in Gusau would have more suitable quarters, the Chief of Army Staff informed the troops. He also requested that the newly commissioned housing be properly maintained from the RSM of 1 Brigade.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General GM Mutkut, attended the ceremony as the Chief of Army Staff’s representative.
The Chief of Army Staff was thanked by Brigadier General S Ahmed, commander of the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army in Gusau, for the admirable project that will significantly improve regimentation and discipline in the Army. He added that many projects started by the Chief of Army Staff and now under way in 1 Brigade. Once completed, these projects will improve the soldiers’ morale and operational effectiveness.
The cutting of the commissioning tape and the delivery of the apartment’s keys to the RSM of 1 Brigade were the event’s high points.
