The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, has officially inaugurated several commendable projects in Lagos aimed at enhancing the welfare of officers and soldiers within the 81 Division Area of Responsibility (AOR). These projects include the 81 Division Hippo Hall of Fame, an ultramodern electronic library located at the Division headquarters complex, transit accommodations for officers in Abalti Barracks and Bonny Cantonment, a state-of-the-art hospital in Epe town, and a sports complex and jetty for the Nigerian Army Ordnance School in Epe.

During his address, the COAS expressed his delight in witnessing the completion of these projects and commended the Corps Commander Engineers, Major General PE Eromosele, for the outstanding quality of work accomplished through direct labor. He emphasized that these developments align with his command philosophy, which emphasizes leadership, operational effectiveness, and sound administration. Major General Lagbaja further assured that the Nigerian Army, under his leadership, will witness further infrastructural advancements that enhance the welfare of troops nationwide.

The COAS also praised the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, for his commitment to the well-being of the troops. He acknowledged that these projects would significantly contribute to meeting the essential needs of the troops, their families, and the surrounding community.

The commissioning ceremony of the Hippo Hall of Fame at the Division Headquarters was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OA Ihejirika (Rtd), past 81 Division GOCs, key Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, and officers and personnel of the 81 Division. Major General Obinna Ajunwa also seized the opportunity to congratulate the COAS on his appointment as the 23rd Chief of Army Staff, expressing optimism that Major General Lagbaja would excel in his mission to transform the Nigerian Army.
