President Muhammadu Buhari has given his approval for Major General Samuel Adebayo, the Chief of Defense Intelligence (CDI), to receive the National Honor in the rank of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).

General Adebayo is the only senior military commander in CFR and has one of the highest honor levels, following Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Niger (GCON). The single contender for GCON is Emeka Anyaoku, a former secretary-general of the Commonwealth.

The Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) was previously awarded to CDI Adebayo in 2022 by President Buhari, according to PRNigeria.

Other Military Officers on the latest honour list of the Officers of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) are AVM Abubakar Abdullahi, Major Gen. CG Musa, AVM James Gblim (retd), Major General Kamilu Olayinka Kadiri, Major Gen. MSA Aliyu (retd.), Major Gen Cyril U. Agulanna (retd.), Rear Admiral Jamila Abbo Malafa (retd.), Major Gen. AK Ibrahim, Major Gen. GM Mutkut and Major Gen. AB Omozoje.

The extensive list also included Rear Admiral NA Mijogilim, Rear Admiral SK Ibrahim, Rear Admiral SS Lassa, and Rear Admiral DE Eyo, as well as AVM AD Jolasinmi, AVM IG Lubo, AVM TO Yusuf, AVM AG Bello, and AVM AG Bello.

While Colonel Yusuf Dodo receives the Officer of the Order of the Niger, Lieutenant Colonel IA Manga, recipient of the Security and Emergency Management Award (SAEMA) 2023, receives the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) National Honor.

According to PRNigeria, the military officers are among the 339 individuals who will receive special national honors in 2023. Among those honored in the many categories of the awards were Supreme Court justices, Justices of the Appeal Court, traditional leaders, politicians, resigning ministers, celebrities, sports figures, bankers, and lawyers.
