As part of the activities outlined for 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration (AFRD), Muslim and Christian Faithfuls of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Jalingo held their Jumaat and Inter-Denominational Church service on Friday 6 and Sunday 8 January 2023 respectively.
In his sermon on Friday, the chief Imam Taraba State Goverment House Mosque, Mallam Sadanu Lawal Bantaje stressed the importance of the military to the country. He however urged the people to continue to support the military and encouraged them to always remember the fallen heroes and those in active service in their prayers.
In the same vein, the Anglican Bishop of Jalingo Diocese Bishop Foreman Nedison during his sermon at the Brigade Cathedral Church of Christ, Mayo-Dassa appreciated the Comd 6 Brigade NA Brigadier General FS Etim for making God first and facilitating the inter denominational service which he described as the very first of its kind in the history Taraba State. He emphasized on the need to serve humanity with due diligence as it is also a way of serving God. He said “In all your service, if you do not serve humanity, your service is nothing.” While concluding his sermon, he enjoined Christian faithfuls to continue to support and pray for the families of the fallen heroes and the Armed Forces as this will encourage them to the more.
While delivering his Goodwill message, the comd 6 Brigade NA Brigadier General FS Etim appreciated the Bishop and Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN) Taraba Chapter for affording the Bde the needed support to hold the service. He stated that the AFRD Interdenominational service is a service in honour of our fallen heroes and also to show the place of God in the military. He also used the platform to reassure the people of Taraba State of the NA’s commitment in ensuring lasting peace in the state.
The events were well attended by senior military officers both serving and retired, Rep of the Nigerian Legion, government officials, heads of other security agencies, CAN Chairman Taraba State, Captains of industries among many others.
