Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, has praised the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management for successfully conducting the Logistics Staff Course and the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course concurrently at its permanent site in Moloney and Ojo, respectively. The COAS’s remarks were made during the graduation ceremony of the Logistics Staff Course 20/2023 held at the NACOLM permanent site in Ojo Cantonment, Lagos state.
Represented by Major-General Obinna Ajunwa, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division (GOC 81 Div), the COAS emphasized that the occasion is significant as NACOLM repositions itself to produce efficient logisticians and middle cadre leaders in the Nigerian Army. He expressed confidence in the improved facilities at the permanent site and the Moloney Campus, which have greatly enhanced the quality of graduating students. These efforts are crucial in enhancing the overall capacity of the Nigerian Army to conduct combat operations effectively across all theaters of operations.
Major-General Ajunwa highlighted that the Army Headquarters’ focus on professionalism, readiness, sound administration, and cooperation is driven by the operational reality. The aim is to maintain a highly professional army that is well-trained, combat-ready, and capable of fulfilling its constitutional roles.
He also congratulated the Commandant and the entire staff of NACOLM for the successful maiden edition of the Training on Operational Level Logistics for Personnel of the ECOWAS Standby Force. He commended the inclusion of the Practical Logistics Experience Scheme, aligning with the directive of Army Headquarters to incorporate practical training into the curriculum of Nigerian Army training institutions.
In his welcome remarks, Major-General Adekunle Adeyinka, the Commandant of NACOLM, explained that the graduating students underwent the Logistics Staff Course for 24 weeks, beginning on January 13, 2023. Out of the 35 students, one was withdrawn for administrative reasons. The Logistics Staff Course is designed to train middle cadre officers in planning and executing logistics operations to support formations, Corps, tri-service, and multinational operations, utilizing modern management systems.
The graduation ceremony marks an important milestone for the students and NACOLM, showcasing the college’s commitment to producing competent logisticians and leaders who can effectively contribute to the Nigerian Army’s operational readiness and success.
