Upon being sworn in as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR was congratulated by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya. He also assured the President of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering loyalty to him and the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution.

Inaugurating the Army Headquarters Department of Transformation and Innovation Sensitization Seminar on Intensifying Warriors Ethnos Regimentation in the Nigerian Army, Drug and Substance Abuse, and Management of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at the HQ 82 Division Auditorium in Enugu on June 7, 2023, Gen. Yahaya provided this assurance.

In his opening remarks, the Special Guest of Honor (SGOH), Lt Gen F Yahaya, who was represented by Maj Gen Aminu Chinade, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 82 Division, described the event as significant and noted that the sensitization was timely given the complex security challenges the country is currently facing. He also stated that the Army will continue to review tactical options to enable it to overcome any kind of security challenges in the country.

The SGOH also noted that the seminar aims to revive the warrior spirit and regimentation in all commanders and their troops through innovative thinking, critical approach, and implementable strategies. Regimentation aids in creating the bond, cohesion, and discipline required for the conduct of military operations. According to his goal of creating “A Professional Nigerian Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions Within a Joint Environment in Defense of Nigeria,”

The COAS praised Maj Gen Zakari Abubakar, Chief of Transformation and Innovation (Army), for organizing the seminar. He also thanked GOC 82 Division for contributing to the event’s success. The COAS also praised the resource speakers for their dedication to raising awareness among the troops and urged participants to take the training seriously and put what they have learned to good use.

The Chief of Transformation and Innovation (Army), Major General Zakari Abubakar, noted that the lecture on the warrior’s ethos was intended to reenergize and awaken the fighting spirit of all Nigerian Army troops in order to meet the country’s current security challenges. The knowledge of regimentation, he continued, was also intended to reorient troops toward resurrecting the shared principles of discipline, norms, and professionalism in order to keep up with international practice.

According to Major General Abubakar, the lecture would enhance the combat performance of the troops and their operational efficacy in line with the COAS vision. He complimented the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division for organizing the ceremony and thanked the COAS Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for his assistance. General Abubakar also urged attendees to take the talk seriously since it would improve their ability to operate.

Principal Staff Officers from the division, as well as officers and soldiers from the 82nd Division Area of Responsibility, were present. The gift-giving to the resource people and the group photo were the highlights of the event.
