Project Management Workshop

Makurdi, Nigeria – On July 18, 2023, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), formally inaugurated the Project Management Workshop 2023, which was hosted by the Nigerian Army Special Projects at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering Officers’ Mess in Makurdi.

The course, with the theme “Efficient Risk Management in Project Delivery in the Nigerian Army,” aimed to acquaint attendees with typical risk management techniques in the construction industry. Its objective was to make sure that project resources were used safely and effectively by the Nigerian Army.

The COAS emphasized during his opening remarks that the Nigerian Army (NA) carries out the majority of its projects using direct labor. He invited all NA Engineer Officers to make use of the session to improve their capabilities and grow as project management experts. To provide high-quality projects and maintain the availability of necessary facilities for the NA, General Lagbaja stressed the significance of competence in risk management. He reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing officer and soldier welfare, in line with his command philosophy of making the Nigerian Army a well-trained, outfitted, and highly motivated force capable of carrying out its constitutional obligations in a cooperative setting.

Major General Shamsudeen Shafaru, Coordinator of Nigerian Army Special Projects, advised all attendees to get the most out of the workshop by utilizing the knowledge and experience of the carefully chosen resource people in his welcome speech.

The Corps Commander of the Nigerian Army Engineers, Major General Philips Eromosele, thanked the COAS for his steadfast support of the Nigerian Army Engineers. He emphasized the significance of the session in educating police about the usefulness, security, and effectiveness of the built environment. To get a greater grasp of risk identification, assessment, and prioritization in construction, Major General Eromosele urged attendees to stay dedicated throughout the program.

The Project Management Workshop offers a useful setting for Nigerian Army Engineer Officers to advance their expertise in risk management, assisting in the efficient completion of projects and the general development of the Nigerian Army’s infrastructure. The COAS’s passion to enhancing the professionalism and efficiency of the Nigerian Army is evident in his support of and commitment to programs for capacity building.
