Commandant Nigerian Military School

The Commandant Nigerian Military School (NMS) , Brigadier General Abdumalik Dansarai Aliyu, seeks the prayers, regal direction, and ongoing cooperation of the Zaria Community. On February 23, 2023, he informed the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, of this during a formal visit to the latter’s palace in Zaria City.

When explaining the reason for his visit, Comdt NMS Brig-Gen Abdumalik Aliyu revealed that he had recently been appointed the Commandant of the NMS and that he had begun his responsibilities as the 27th NMS Commandant on January 20. He disclosed that he was born in the town of Dansarai in the Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, but that he had resided in Zaria for a long time because he was a student at the Teachers College Zaria.

As the newly appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Military School, he claimed that it was his obligation to pay the Emir a courtesy visit, seek his advice, and receive his prayers for success as he served in that capacity. He stated that he respects and believes in traditional organizations, and that he is forced to look for ways to work in harmony with them constantly. He stressed the necessity of bolstering the already established corporation and working in partnership with host communities, particularly Unguwan Malam Sule, Jushi, Gyallesu, and other nearby villages.

According to Gen. Aliyu, Boys Company of Nigeria, then known as Nigerian Military School, was officially founded on May 20, 1954. The name was altered to Nigerian Military School following Nigeria’s independence in 1960. The NMS has created notable men in Nigeria, including Heads of States, Governors, and Generals in the Nigerian Armed Forces, he continued.

His Royal Highness Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, responded by congratulating the Commandant on his selection as the 27th Commandant of the Nigerian Military School and wishing him a smooth and fruitful tenure there.

He recognized both the significance of NMS to the Zaria Community and the roles it has played in developing young leaders.
He reiterated his belief that the Nigerian Army will uphold its constitutional duties and responsibilities. He reaffirmed the impartial roles the Nigerian Army would play in the upcoming elections to ensure an open and impartial process.

In order to help the Nigerian Military School whenever necessary, the Emir of Zazzau ended by stating that his doors are always open.
