Commander 16 Brigade

The departure of officers who had just been posted out of the Brigade was celebrated by a lively and colorful celebration conducted at the 16 Brigade Python Officers’ Mess in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on June 6, 2023. Brigadier General Sadisu Yakasai, the commander 16 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Joint Task Force (South-South) Operation Delta Safe, used the chance to address the officers and urged them to uphold their commitment, discipline, and diligence in their new responsibilities.

General Yakasai praised the departing officers during his remarks for their unshakable dedication and extraordinary fervor throughout their tours of duty. He recognized how much they had contributed to the numerous successes the Brigade had in its area of responsibility. He thanked the officers on their recent postings and complimented them on their successes while highlighting the significance of professionalism, creativity, and allegiance to legitimate authority in their new positions.

During his speech, Colonel Ahmed Balogun, the 16 Brigade Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Army, congratulated the officers for finishing their tour of duty satisfactorily. The importance of serving as honorable representatives of the Brigade in their new assignments was highlighted by him. Insisting that they carry the reputation of the Nigerian Army with them, Colonel Balogun advised the officers to uphold the moral principles and standards they had displayed while serving in the Brigade.

In recognition of the posted-out officers’ devoted service, plaques and gifts were given to them during the ceremony. These keepsakes served as a reminder of the Brigade’s appreciation for their dedication and work ethic. Along with being photographed individually, the officers were also gathered together to show the camaraderie and solidarity that characterized their tenure in the Brigade.

The farewell ceremony sought to remind the Brigade of its dedication to professionalism and quality as well as to recognize the retiring officers. It made clear how crucial it is to uphold the Nigerian Army’s basic beliefs and maintain high standards at all times. The Commander emphasized the importance of their leadership in the country’s defense and reiterated the expectations for continuous effort, discipline, and dedication in their new tasks.

Their experiences and education from their time in the 16 Brigade will definitely help these officers succeed as they begin the next phase of their military careers. As these officers continue to serve the country with pride and distinction in their new roles, the send-off ceremony not only signaled the conclusion of one chapter but also the start of a new one.
