On Friday, January 13, 2023, a sizable crowd of mourners and sympathizers descended upon the peaceful town of Ihe in Enugu State’s Awgu Local Government Area to witness the late Pa Esomchi Ambrose Eneonwo’s ultimate burial.
Major-General Stevenson Olabanji, the commander of the Nigerian Army’s (TRADOC NA) Training and Doctrine Command, attended the funeral at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Ihe town with a number of top military officers, both active duty and retired.
Prayers were made fervently for the late Chief Ambrose Eneonwo’s soul during the service. In addition, a number of condolences were received to mark the great Chief’s untimely passing and praised his humility and unselfish dedication to the community.
Family members, friends, and community leaders, among others, traveled from near and far to fill the Church to capacity. Brigadier General Nnamdi Isama (Rtd), Brigadier General MW Dangana, Brigadier General AS Maikano, Brigadier General GU Nwamba, Air Commodore Ozoemen (Rtd), Colonel MM Dole, Colonel AA Sambo, Colonel IA Basharu, Colonel Okafor, Colonel A Saidu, Captain (NN) S Ogogo, Lt Col Basharon, Major Lekuti (Rtd), and numerous other military officers.
General Olabanji spoke to the grieving family after the burial and offered his sincere regrets and sympathies to each member of the family. He also prayed that God would give them the strength to endure the unrecoverable loss. Colonel AO Eneonwo’s father, the late Chief Esomchi Ambrose Eneonwo (JP), passed away on the eve of Christmas in 2022. Ameen. May his soul rest in peace.
