On August 4, 2024, Major General Kevin Aligbe, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), inaugurated the Examination Panel for the 2024 Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE). The ceremony took place at the Joseph Garba Hall, Post Graduate School of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna State, and was attended by key military officials and panelists.

During the inauguration, Major General Aligbe, who also serves as the Examination President, urged the 66 selected panelists to bring their extensive experience to bear and maintain the highest standards of integrity, honesty, and professional competence. He emphasized that their selection was based on their exemplary track records and stressed the importance of fairness, thoroughness, and uprightness in the examination process.

In his address, Major General Aligbe highlighted the critical role of the SSCQE in determining the career progression of Nigerian Army officers. He reminded the panelists of their responsibility to assess candidates objectively and transparently, in line with the Nigerian Army Examination Charter. He noted that the examination should be seen as a means of evaluating the officers’ problem-solving abilities rather than merely a weeding process.

The Commander TRADOC NA also linked the examination to the broader goal of producing problem-solving officers, in alignment with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, which focuses on transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, well-equipped, and highly motivated force capable of fulfilling its constitutional duties.

Earlier, Major General Olufemi Oluyede, represented by Brigadier General Hassan Bello, Chief of Staff at Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre, welcomed the TRADOC NA Commander and his team. He praised the examination as a catalyst for the candidates’ career advancement and reaffirmed the Infantry Corps’ readiness to ensure a smooth and secure examination process, particularly in light of ongoing protests across the country.

Before the ceremony, the panelists participated in a special session to refresh their understanding of the examination guidelines, coordinated by Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba, Acting Director of Examination TRADOC NA.
