Major-General Ibrahim Ali, the theatre commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, while receiving Dandal Kura Radio has commended the patriotic stance and reporting of media outlets in the on-going Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations in the North East, calling it a crucial component in the restoration of peace and normalcy in the area.
On March 14, 2023, at the Theatre Headquarters in Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri, the Theatre Commander delivered the compliment while meeting Mr. Ahmed Akewula, General Manager of Dandal Kura Radio International.
Speaking during the visit, Maj-Gen Ibrahim said that the uplifting stories provided by broadcast organizations had assisted those impacted in emerging from the terrible circumstances brought on by the insurgency. He therefore encouraged the media organization to keep raising awareness among the public through jingles and documentaries that aim to bring about peace in the NE.
General Manager expressed his gratitude to the Stage Commander for treating him and the other members of his management team with such warmth. He revealed that the purpose of the tour was to both reaffirm their support for the military and to enhance the already strong synergy between the command and the broadcast station.
Mr. Ahmed went on to say that Dandal Kura was specifically established to combat violent extremism by disseminating materials that refute terrorists’ narratives and lies and advance regional peace. The Theatre Commander was subsequently given assurances about the organization’s unwavering support and collaboration in the area of media.
