The commander 1 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji Brigadier General S Ahmed has instructed security agencies in the state not to hesitate to deal decisively with anyone who attempts to obstruct the smooth conduct of the election as Zamfara state prepares to hold its governor and state house of assembly elections. He made this accusation to security agency personnel in Zamfara state today, March 16, 2023, at the Headquarters 1 Brigade Complex in Gusau, soon after a combined force demonstration with the military and other sister security agencies in the state was held in the city.

This information can be found in a declaration made to media by Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the acting assistant director of army public relations for the 1st Brigade of the Nigerian Army. The use of force, according to Brig-Gen Ahmed, was necessary to deter criminal elements who planned to disrupt the polls and restrict their freedom of movement. He revealed that the exercise would increase voter trust by allaying concerns about intimidation and harassment prior to, during, and following the elections.

Gen. Ahmed encouraged the security organizations to make every effort to create an environment that is favorable for a free and violent election. Additionally, he gave the officers and men the responsibility of ensuring that the Youth Service Corps volunteers, INEC employees, and other poll stakeholders were adequately protected throughout the election.

The state’s upcoming general elections will not allow saboteurs, according to Brigadier General S Ahmed. He pleaded with members of all security agencies to cooperate so that the general objective would be accomplished during the election.
