Delta State Governor, 63 Brigade Commander, Others Celebrates Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Asaba

The Year 2023 Armed Forces and Remembrance Day Parade took place in Delta State at the Cenotaph in Asaba at about 09:30am on Sunday 15th January 2023. The parade was comprised of twenty officers and two hundred and fifty personnel drawn from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force and a guard from the Nigerian Legion Delta State Chapter.

The high point of the event were the special prayers offered in the state by the 63 Brigade Chaplain Roman Catholic, Captain JC Mebo followed by the Chaplain Protestant, Major F Michael and of course the 63 Brigade Imam, Staff Sergeant Shehu Musa.

Furthermore, the Special Guest of Honor; the Executive Governor of Delta State Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa who was ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government Chief Patrick Ukah led the wreath laying ceremony. Among the dignitaries that performed the wreath laying were the outgoing Commander 63 Brigade, Major General MLD Saraso who was represented by the Brigade Chief of Staff, Brigadier General E Azenda, the representative of the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship DELTA, Navy Captain TA Bassey, Commander 371 Nigerian Air Force Detachment Warri, Air Commodore Akinyimika and the Commissioner of Police Delta State Police Command, CP Muhammad Ali Ari among others.

Other activities observed at the event were the firing of the twenty-one gun salute and the release of commemorative pigeons by the State governor which signified peace. The parade was concluded successfully at about 1130am on the same day.
