Emir of Bama Praises 7 Division for Defending his Territory from Marauding Insurgents

In order to defend his realm against roving Boko Haram Insurgents, the Emir of Bama, His Royal Highness (HRH) Dr. Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi, has praised the professionalism and tenacity of the troops of 7 Division stationed under 21 Special Armoured Brigade (SAB) Bama.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Waidi Shaibu, paid the Emir of Bama a courtesy visit at his palace in Bama on Wednesday, 1 February 2023, during which the Shehu bestowed the commendation. The Shehu praised the GOC and his soldiers for their outstanding efforts and dedication, which have helped to bring peace and serenity to his domain. In addition to saying that his people will continue to work with the military in all ways to put an end to insurgency in the region as a whole as well as in the State as a whole, he also confirmed that these efforts had created the conditions for social and commercial activities to flourish.

In a similar spirit, the GOC was grateful for the Emir of Bama and the good citizens of Bama’s support and cooperation in helping to ensure that forces effectively reduced terrorist activity in the region. He gave the assurance that, while he was in charge, the Sector and, in fact, the Division, would continue to carry out their given obligations with zeal and commitment.

To evaluate the operational posture of the troops in the Brigade’s Area of Operation, the GOC also paid an operational visit to Heaquarters 21 SAB, Bama. The brigade commander, Brigadier General UV Unachukwu, welcomed the GOC and gave him a briefing on the operational readiness of the Brigade.

The GOC praised the troops for dominating and denying the terrorists any freedom of movement while expressing pleasure with their performance in successfully securing their AOR. Then he gave them orders to continue to adopt an aggressive and offensive stance while also maintaining the momentum to ensure the overall defeat of the remaining terrorists.

The Commander of the 21 SAB, Brigadier-General UV Unachukwu, the Comd. of the 37 Arty Bde, Brigadier-General NUC Ogili, the Comd. of the 57 Sig Bde, Brigadier-General AJ Ahmad, the Comd. of the 77 ST Bde, Brigadier-General JB Adams, as well as other formation and unit commanders, and principal staff officers of Headquarters 7 Division were all present during the visit.
