Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff has tasked the Nigerian Army’s soldiers with using their training-acquired skills and knowledge effectively in the planning and execution of operations in order to achieve their country’s security goals. At the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia, Kaduna, Gen. Yahaya issued the order during the graduation ceremony for commanders and troops trained in the EXERCISE RESTORE HOPE IV.

Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the training, which started on January 25, 2023, involved soldiers from a variety of formations and units who had been undergoing rigorous training and drills in marksmanship, unarmed battle drills, and other advanced Special Forces training. A number of shooting and tactical activities were used in the well-attended ceremony to highlight the graduates’ freshly learned fighting skills.

The COAS continued his remarks at the event by expressing his happiness over the first-time success of the training conducted by the Nigerian Army Training Team, noting that the first through third iterations of Exercise Restore Hope were carried out in conjunction with foreign partners, while the fourth iteration was carried out solely by the NA Training Team with the assistance of the foreign partners. Gen. Yahaya said that the Exercise Restore Hope training series gives the NA the foundation to sustain its efforts to adequately equip the troops for operations in a complex and dynamic security environment. He further stressed the importance of training to his philosophy of command. According to him, the sequence of training will continue in the NA given the many advantages and effects of the Exercise. He said that Exercise Restore Hope V’s preparations were virtually finished and that the majority of the soldiers who would be participating in it would be young soldiers who had recently graduated from Depot NA. Under his direction, he promised that the NA would give training premium real estate.

The Army Chief used the chance to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for his strategic direction, unwavering support, and encouragement of the NA. President Buhari is the commander in chief of the Nigerian armed forces. The Federal Republic of Nigeria’s President and the Constitution are both protected by the officers and troops of the National Army, Gen. Yahaya informed the populace.

Participants at the ceremony included the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Principal Staff Officers of Army Headquarters, the Commander of the Infantry Corps, General Officers Commanding the 1st and 3rd Divisions, representatives of Kachia’s security agencies, the Chairman of the Kachia Local Government, the Agom Kachia, and senior officers who were both serving and retired.
