The Commander 22 Armoured Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General AA Babalola, on Tuesday 25 January 2023, received Army Headquarters Operations monitoring team at the Brigade Headquarters Ilorin, Kwara State. The visit of the team was aimed at assessing Exercise STILL WATERS II, which is ongoing in 2 Division Nigerian Army area of responsibility.
The team which was led by Major General AA Ariyibi, was briefed on the conduct of the Exercise in 22 Brigade area of responsibility from its flag off to present state.
Recall the Exercise was flagged off by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General F Yahaya on 18 October 2022 alongside GOLDEN DAWN II and ENDURING PEACE II in South-East, South-South and North-Central geopolitical zones respectively.
In his remarks, General Ariyibi commended the Brigade for the good works and successes recorded so far, stressing the need to strive to do better so as to achieve the mandate of the Exercise. He added that the COAS places high premium on operations, which was the reason behind continuous monitoring and assessments of ongoing operations and exercises.
Earlier, the Commander welcomed the team and expressed his appreciation for their visit. Brigadier General Babalola said he was happy to receive the team, as he was confident of the value that would be added to the Brigade by the team, especially having General Ariyibi as the team leader.
The Commander further assured the team of the Brigade’s readiness to welcome new ideas and adhere to their observations.
Present during the visit were the Brigade’s Acting Chief of Staff Lt Col LJ Asuquo, AHQ team members, Commanding Officers and staff officers of the Brigade.
