Langtang North local government area of Plateau state witnessed a somber occasion as family members, relatives, and friends bid their final farewell to Brigadier General Patrick Ayuba Miri (retired). The retired officer was laid to rest on June 10, 2023, in his hometown, marking the end of a distinguished military career and a life dedicated to serving the nation.

During the funeral proceedings, the representative of the Chief of Army Staff, Brigadier General Suleiman Adamu, delivered a heartfelt funeral oration. He described General Miri as a gallant professional soldier, highlighting his brilliance, patriotism, hard work, and unwavering trustworthiness. General Adamu emphasized that the nation, the Nigerian Army, and all who knew General Miri have suffered a significant loss with his passing.

The officiating ministers, Lieutenant Colonel (Rev) A. Usman and Rev Nankap B. Fazing, delivered poignant sermons, reminding the congregation of the inevitability of death and the hope of eternal life for those who lead righteous lives. They drew solace from the scriptures, particularly John 11:25-26 and Romans 8:35-38, emphasizing the Christian belief in resurrection and the eternal reward awaiting those who have lived according to God’s commandments.

The spouse of the deceased, as well as friends, seniors, and comrades in the military, paid tribute to Brigadier General Patrick Miri. They fondly remembered him as a true friend, a team player, and a caring husband, father, and companion. Their heartfelt words painted a picture of a man who was not only dedicated to his military duties but also deeply committed to his family and friendships.

Brigadier General Patrick Miri was a member of the prestigious Regular Combatant Course 33 of the Nigerian Defence Academy. His contributions to the nation’s defense and his legacy as a gallant soldier will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

As the ceremony concluded and General Miri’s remains were laid to rest, a sense of solemnity filled the air. The loss of such a remarkable individual left an indelible void in the hearts of his loved ones and the military community. However, the memories of his dedication, loyalty, and selflessness will continue to inspire and serve as a reminder of the extraordinary life he lived.

Brigadier General

Brigadier General Patrick Miri’s legacy will forever remain engraved in the annals of the Nigerian Army, and his commitment to serving the nation will continue to inspire generations to come. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
