Major General Gold Chibuisi, the MNJTF’s Force Commander, has declared his unflinching commitment to driving terrorists off every island in Lake Chad. On Friday, June 9, 2023, he made a firm statement during his operational visits to sectors 1 and 2 of Bagasola, Bagasola, and Bibi in the Chad Republic.

Major General Chibuisi highlighted that the goal of his visit was to evaluate the MNJTF’s naval capabilities, according to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer. In his presentation to the troops, he urged them to continue supporting the mission and to build on the recent successes of Operation Lake Sanity.

The ability of Boko Haram to organize and conduct operations in the Lake Chad Islands, also known as “Tumbus,” has been significantly degraded as a result of Operation Lake Sanity. General Chibuisi lauded the soldiers for their unwavering commitment and outstanding accomplishments. He urged them to build on their successes and make sure that no Lake Chad Island was still under terrorist control.

As part of ongoing operations to combat terrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin, similar trips were made to Mallam-Fatori in Nigeria, Diffa, and Bosso in the Niger Republic prior to the operational tour to Cameroon and Chad. The Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Benin forces who make up the MNJTF have been instrumental in establishing stability and peace in the area.

The Force Commander’s visit has two purposes: to evaluate the MNJTF’s operational capabilities and to boost unit morale. The fact that General Chibuisi is here shows how confident he is in their ability to complete the objective and how steadfastly he supports their continued operations. He instills confidence in the local populace and reaffirms the MNJTF’s commitment to restoring peace and stability by personally visiting the sectors.

Major General Chibuisi’s promise to deny terrorists access to any Lake Chad Islands sends a strong statement about the MNJTF’s fortitude and resolve in the fight against terrorism in the area. His words act as a call to arms for the soldiers, reminding them of the critical significance of their mission and the essential part they play in reestablishing peace and security in the Lake Chad Basin.

The trip not only raises soldier morale but also shows the MNJTF’s member nations’ commitment to one another and their shared solidarity. It illustrates their shared commitment to removing the terrorism threat and reestablishing peace in the area. The MNJTF has been successful in lessening the capabilities of the terrorist organizations operating in the Lake Chad Basin through collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint operations.

The Force Commander’s visit serves as a reminder of both the achievements reached thus far and the challenges that still need to be overcome as the MNJTF continues its operations in the area. The MNJTF’s commitment to ridding the Lake Chad Islands of terrorists and bringing peace, security, and prosperity back to the people impacted by terrorism is reaffirmed by this. The goal of a safe and stable Lake Chad Basin can be achieved with the help of the international community’s ongoing assistance and the MNJTF troops’ unflinching commitment.
