Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), the Joint Task Force North East, have successfully neutralised multiple terrorist threats and reinforced key positions across Borno and Adamawa States between 25 and 31 October 2025. The troops displayed exceptional professionalism and tactical efficiency in a series of coordinated operations aimed at safeguarding civilians, securing communities, and disrupting terrorist logistics networks.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, the operations covered several flashpoints, including Kukawa, Gwoza–Limankara, Dikwa–Ajiri, and Mubi South, where troops thwarted enemy movements, foiled suicide attacks, and seized critical supplies. The statement added that the troops’ proactive posture and rapid response mechanisms were instrumental in preventing large-scale attacks on civilian populations.
On 25 October 2025, troops foiled a major terrorist attempt to infiltrate Kukawa Town using a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED). The device was first engaged with RPG fire before being destroyed by a T-55 tank, averting what could have been a devastating explosion. The attackers fled under heavy fire while a 10-year-old girl who sustained minor injuries received immediate medical attention from military medical personnel.
In another operation, troops working in synergy with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) discovered and safely disposed of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the Dikwa–Ajiri axis and surrounding routes, preventing potential sabotage on critical military and humanitarian supply lines.
On 29 October, troops of 192 Battalion (Main), in collaboration with the CJTF, executed an ambush that neutralised two terrorists, forcing others to flee into the Mandara Mountains. Items recovered during the encounter confirmed that the terrorists continue to rely heavily on bicycles and food supplies for mobility and survival. Similarly, on 30 October, troops of 202 Battalion, alongside ten members of the Volunteer Force, mounted a night ambush against terrorists attempting to cross from the Gezuwa axis towards the Sambisa Forest along the Bama–Konduga Main Supply Route. The insurgents were met with superior firepower and fled in disarray after sustaining heavy casualties.
In a separate anti-smuggling operation conducted under Operation Strangulation, troops of 232 Battalion (Tactical) intercepted a drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and two motorcycles used for illegal conveyance of the product at Fillin Ball and Sebore in Mubi South Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The smugglers abandoned their items and fled upon sighting the troops. The recovered products are in custody for further investigation.
Likewise, following credible intelligence on plans by Boko Haram and ISWAP elements to infiltrate Sabon Gari village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, troops of 144 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and local hunters, conducted a cordon and search operation on 30 October, which led to the arrest of five suspects identified as Musa Mohammed (38), Gambo Musa (17), Mallam Mohammed (17), Abu Danjuma (27), and Umar Banna (26). A desert camouflage uniform and one round of 7.62mm x 54mm ammunition were recovered from Umar Banna, while 50 wraps of Indian hemp were discovered in an abandoned hut within the area. Preliminary investigations are ongoing to ascertain the suspects’ affiliations and roles in terrorist activities.
The Air Component Command of Operation Hadin Kai provided critical support throughout the operations, conducting precision air strikes and deploying Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms that enhanced situational awareness and interdiction efforts. A follow-up exploitation conducted in the early hours of 31 October within a three-kilometre radius towards the Sambisa Forest led to the recovery of one terrorist’s corpse, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 90 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm linked ammunition, and four bicycles. Notably, no casualties were recorded among own troops.
The Military High Command has commended the troops of Operation Hadin Kai for their gallantry, professionalism, and renewed commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the North East. It reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ resolve to sustain aggressive operations aimed at eradicating terrorism, dismantling insurgent cells, disrupting their supply lines, and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians. The statement further assured that the Nigerian Armed Forces remain committed to restoring normalcy in affected communities while upholding their constitutional mandate to protect the territorial integrity of the nation.
